National Day of Prayer

I have been praying for as long as I can remember. I was not even able to go to sleep at night until I prayed. Early on, I prayed daily for my family members. My prayers were mostly focused on my loved ones, and rarely myself. I thought that God only needed to about hear me if they were big issues. When I got older and did pray for myself, it was out of desperation and just pleading for help. I don’t even know how to gather my thoughts for what I wanted or needed, so I just asked God to help me. Then, in 2010, I was challenged to pray for myself. I learned to put my needs in words, and I have been praying for myself ever since. 6 years later, God has worked in me, changed me greatly, and is still doing so. As of late, my prayers have been 50/50 for others and myself. I am working on a prayer calendar to organize my prayer life. It can be overwhelming praying for 20+ people each night. God has given us 7 days in a week, so I am trying to disburse the prayers throughout those days; I will keep you all posted on how that goes.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I love to pray. Some people may call me a “Prayer Warrior” or an “Intercessor”, but I am not a fan of titles. I believe everyone can pray, and should pray. Prayer works, it is powerful, and that is why the devil does not want us praying. God will act on your behalf when you pray, regardless of whom or what you are praying for. Jesus prayed often, and he still intercedes on our behalf. Prayer comes from the heart, so be humble, genuine, and honest when you pray.

With that said, today is one of my favorite days of the year, National Day of Prayer! Please join me in praying for our nation and other things.

Heavenly Father, Almighty God,

Lord, we revere you and acknowledge you as the One True God. There is no other but you, solely you. You have created the Heavens and Earth. All things were created by you and for you (John 1:3). No one can compare to you. You have no match, no one can withstand you. You are the God of Majesty, Righteousness, and Judgement. You are Holy, Pure, and Just in all your ways. We recognize you as being worthy of all power, honor, glory, and praise. Power and Dominion is yours. You are in control, you sit on the throne, and you hold all time and wisdom. Father, we exalt you and magnify your great Name! There is no one like you. You are everlasting, the past, present and future. We honor you.

At this time God, we just ask for your mercy, for us and the whole nation. We recognize our sins, and confess all of them to you. We confess doing life our way, and forgetting you‚ taking you out of our life and thoughts so we can continue living the way we want. We confess putting other things above you, and breaking your laws and commands. We confess our disobedience and our evil ways. We know what is right, but choose wrong. We lie, cheat, steal, idolize, covet, fornicate, kill, destroy. We allow the enemy to use us and we hurt others. We need you Lord. Please forgive us of all our sins and wickedness. Your Word says that if we confess our sins, you will be faithful and just to forgive us (1 John 1:9).We want to be right with you and we repent of all our sins. Help us to turn from our evil ways. You alone Lord, have the power to forgive and to judge us. Lord, help us, help our nation. Have mercy on us and forgive us. We are sorry Father.

We thank you for our Lord Jesus, whom you sent to take our place. We thank you for sacrificing your Son, for his crucifixion, and resurrection. We thank you for giving us a way to be right with you, to have fellowship with you, to be forgiven. Lord, we thank you for all that you have done for us, your provisions, protection, and promises. You are glorious in all your ways. Cleanse us from our sins and all unrighteousness with the blood of Christ.

Father God, we also pray and intercede for the unbelievers in this world. We pray for their salvation. Romans 4:25 says, He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. We pray that they will see the truth and that you will personally encounter them. Help them to turn from their ways and acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior. You are the Ruler of all the earth. I pray that they will feel, understand, and know your love for them. I pray that they will believe, and that the scales and blinders will fall from their eyes. Heal them, deliver them, and purify them. Lord, we also pray for salvation for our loved ones. Bring them into the kingdom of God also, and we pray for those who have known you or been exposed to your truth, but have turned their backs on you. I pray that they will come back again and seek you.

Lord Almighty,

We pray for our city and nation. Many are struggling with mental illness, addiction, suicide, isolation, and other diseases or disorders. Heal them, deliver them. We rebuke these evil spirits and send them to the place you have reserved for them, for we have been given power and authority to trample over serpents and scorpions underfoot, and over all power of the enemy who shall by no means harm us (Luke 10:19). Help the body of Christ to take action and do your Will. Father, deliver those who are victims of trafficking and send them the help that they need. Help us to be your hands and feet. To feed the hungry, provide shelter over the homeless, and to speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves. Help those in positions of power and authority, give them wisdom and knowledge to make the right decisions. Lord, bless and protect the missionaries, evangelist, and pastors‚ all those serving you. Heal our nation. Help us not to be complacent, desensitized, idle, or ignorant. Give us endurance so that we may persevere. Show us what you want us to do.We pray for peace and unity within families, neighbors, and people of all backgrounds. Heal the brokenness and bring restoration.

Today as believers and children of God, we unite and intercede for the nation and Kingdom of God. Let your Will be done Father.

All this we pray, in Jesus’ Glorious Name, Amen.

Prayerfully,

Pam
