Let Go and Let GOD
I have friends and family members who experience more issues in their lives than others, much more than what I would consider normal. It’s always one problem after another, or sometimes multiple problems at once. Everyone in life has issues, but to these select few, it is like clockwork. Things keeps happening or the same issues keep arising; their problems are reoccurring. To me, this is not normal, nor how life should be. I believe it is because God is showing them their need for Him. When will we stop trying to fix it, and let go and let God? If things in life are not changing, maybe we need to make a change. We've got to change our mindset and how we do things. How long will you fight battles that you cannot win? God is an expert in all fields, and there is nothing too hard for him. God does not want us relying on ourselves or others. He is reminding us that He is God, the One True God, and there are only things that God can do! Yet, we tire ourselves out with the same routine, trying to fix everything ourselves. Let’s look at some verses that show God’s desire, ability and intentions on helping us. If you’ve been reading previous posts, you’ve seen these verses before, but we are going to look at them more in depth. (I hope that you are becoming familiar and even memorizing them, as I do refer them quite a bit. This will help you a lot!) Matthew 11:28-30 says 28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Come is an action word. Jesus needs us to go to him, lay down our burdens, and learn from him. That is how you are going to find rest. You’re already doing things, like worrying, complaining, and trying to fix things yourself. Why not give God a try and let God do the work?
Philippians 4:13 says 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Where does your strength come from? This verse says it comes from Christ. How do we get this strength? We obtain it by relying on Christ, not ourselves. Eventually, our strength will run out. Some of us just need to be still, especially those who have Type A Personality like me. We are good at worrying; we don’t know how to be still because we easily get bored. We are busying ourselves with pointless remedies, by worrying and constantly looking for ways to fix our issues, but God says, be still, and know that I am God! (Psalm 46:10). We need to work on not worrying. Instead we should fill our time and thoughts with studying the Word of God or listening to uplifting sermons. Stop complaining about your problems and start praying about them!
Let’s look at one more verse. What about the verse that says Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Psalm 3:5-6). This is a 3 part command, similar to the first verse we read. We ought to have confidence, faith, or belief in God; not depend on our own attitude, approach, or thoughts; and surrender, give in, or listen to God. It isn’t easy and we must practice this. But I bet that once we can start doing these things, life will be a lot more bearable. The problems will not be easier, but the peace we have will be greater. What gets easier is the act of letting go, and letting God fight our battles. Life relentlessly throws chaos our way, but Christ gives us strength, peace, and protection.
So let me ask you. Are you struggling in your relationships? Is your health declining? How about your marriage? How is your spiritual life? Where is the chaos in your life? Is life getting better or getting worse? I’ve asked and said this all before, but it’s worth mentioning again. I believe that anywhere you find chaos in your life, that’s a calling for God Almighty. A reminder that we cannot and should not live life without God. Who else can take on those problems? What about the areas in your life which are out of control? Those are areas in which you must give God the reigns; put Him in the driver seat. He will calm the storm in your life (Mark 4:39) if you let him. Will you ask Him to help you, and let him show you his power and glory? Give your problems to God. It’s time to let go and let God!
Let us Pray.
God Almighty, Ruler of all,
I praise you and honor You. I also thank you for the readers. The world is full of chaos, and many times, very much a part of our lives. There are many reasons why we have struggles, but we don’t have to go through it alone. We are all broken, struggling, hurting, and lost in some way. Please be our guide, our protector, our helper. Thank you for your Word that gives us light and guidance. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path (Psalm 119:105). Help us to listen and understand your Word as well as take action and be obedient. Our lives would be so much simpler if we could just hand them over to You. Lord, teach us to seek you instead of worrying; help us to listen to the Word instead of trying to fix things ourselves; to pray instead of complaining. I pray that you will especially be with those with recurrent problems, to those wishing life would give them a break. No Lord, it is You that gives them rest. Living in chaos is not how you designed for us to live life. Be with them and comfort them. Father, thank you for showing us there is an easier way and that we don’t have to do it alone. You are awesome! In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
Prayerfully,
Pam
